Writing for Performance (Lead byAndrea Assaf)Andrea Assaf is a writer, performer, director and cultural organizer. She’s the founding Artistic and Executive Director of Art2Action Inc., and the National Coordinator of the National Institute for Directing & Ensemble Creation (an Art2Action collaboration with Pangea World Theater). She is a former Artistic Director of New WORLD Theater (2004-09), and former Program Associate for Animating Democracy (2001-04). Andrea has a Masters degree in performance studies and a BFA in acting, both from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She served on the International Management Committee of WPI (Women Playwrights International, 2012-15), and is a member of RAWI (Radius of Arab American Writers). Andrea’s original, full-length theater works include: Eleven Reflections on September, DRONE, a new work in development, recipient of a FY2020 National Performance Network (NPN) Creation Fund commission and a 2019 New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA). Management and Development of Artistic/Cultural Projects I (Lead: Miroslava Wilson)ABOUT LEAD: Miroslava Wilson is an interdisciplinary artist. She is the founder and Co-Artistic Director of the contemporary dance company Péndulo Cero, of which she has been, teacher, dancer and choreographer since its inception to date. Graduated from the 3rd generation of the Professional School of Contemporary Dance of Mazatlán, with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Sonora and a Master's degree in Marine Sciences with a specialty in Marine Biology. Co-founder, co-director and dancer of the Chilean-Mexican company Hunabkú Danza (2003-2006). Committed to the development of comprehensive, artistic, environmental and humanistic spaces and projects that favor social integration, the development of consciousness and the co-responsibility of the individual as a social entity and co-inhabitant of the planet. Her work as a choreographer and / or dancer has been performed in countries such as China, South Korea, Japan, India, Spain, the United States, Argentina, Guatemala, Argentina, Chile, Germany and Mexico. It is part of the training as a Somatic Movement Educator, Body Mind Movement in Mexico City. Throughout the year he teaches his workshop "Expansion from the Body", as well as practices and classes around Contemporary Dance Technique and Improvisation,among others. In addition to his permanent development with the company Péndulo Cero, he collaborates with 9Spiral Project (interdisciplinary music company), Mujeres en Ritual Danza Teatro and Common Ground Voices La Frontera (community development binational project). ABOUT CLASS The participant in this first course will obtain the principles to develop a cultural or artistic project, fostering essential skills for professional practice such as self-management, the organization of work teams and the projection and scope of artistic development projects and / or cultural to their context.
